Our Team
The people behind the practice — and the care that holds it together.
Sharon Hicks, LPCC-S
Founder & Lead ClinicianMinnesota (Counseling Compact): LPC-MN-516
Relationships can be a source of tremendous joy — and some of our deepest pain. Sharon Hicks has built her practice around the conviction that healing is possible, even when the road there has been long and the damage feels permanent.
Sharon specializes in helping couples at every stage of life navigate the difficult terrain of relational distress. She is known as the therapist couples come to when other approaches haven’t worked — bringing a fresh perspective, deep clinical expertise, and a genuine belief that it is never too late to learn new ways of understanding and connecting with each other.
Every human is wired differently, and there is no one-size-fits-all solution. Your care plan should be as unique as you are.
Drawing from a multi-modal approach that includes Emotionally Focused Therapy, the Gottman Method, somatic work, EMDR elements, and narrative therapy, Sharon works below the surface of distressing emotions and behaviors to explore the deeper beliefs about self and others that shape how we show up in our closest relationships.
Her signature couples intensive model creates space for focused, immersive work that compresses months of traditional therapy into days — customized entirely around each couple’s unique situation, needs, and goals. She works closely with other therapists and specialists to ensure every client receives the most complete and coordinated care possible.
Outside the office, Sharon can be found playing Bach on the piano, sipping coffee with friends, and collecting new passport stamps. Having lived in Southeast Asia with her family of six, she carries a genuinely global perspective on the dignity and beauty of all people — and considers it a sacred gift to hold space for their stories.

Therapists & Clinicians
Missy Peterson
Counseling InternMissy is pursuing her master’s degree in clinical counseling at the University of the Cumberlands — a second season of life she describes as the fulfillment of a lifelong dream. She brings decades of experience as a compassionate advocate for others to her clinical training, channeling that calling into the focused, rigorous work of becoming a therapist.
Missy works from a person-centered foundation, creating space where clients feel genuinely heard, valued, and not alone in their experiences. She incorporates narrative therapy and emotionally focused approaches, helping clients examine and reframe their stories toward healing, strength, and resilience. Her goal is to help clients build healthy attachments — to themselves and to others — and discover their own inner resources and sense of agency.
April Lamoreaux, LPCC-S
Care Coordinator & Clinical SupervisorApril brings over ten years of experience as a training coordinator in the mental health field, with a deep passion for mentoring new and developing therapists as they grow into the professionals they set out to become. She is available for consultation and supervision services for Licensed Professional Counselors pursuing their clinical license.
April’s approach to therapy is rooted in the belief that healing is possible — and that the therapeutic space should be somewhere clients feel safe enough to unpack the most difficult parts of themselves, without staying there. She wants every person who walks through the door to leave more fully themselves.
Outside the office, April finds her greatest joy in time with her husband, her fur babies, and close family and friends — ideally with a good book and music, somewhere near the beach.
The Team Behind the Practice
Sommer Stearman
Operations & Advocacy LeadSommer brings both personal experience and professional training to her role as a parent advocate. As a single mother to two sons with special needs, she has spent years navigating the complexities of the special education system — and now offers that hard-won knowledge to other families facing the same terrain.
Holding a diploma in Practical Theology and a bachelor’s degree in Christian Caregiving and Counseling, Sommer leads support groups and provides one-on-one advocacy with a faith-informed, holistic approach. She believes no parent should ever feel alone on this journey.
Kirk Sheppard, LPCC-S
Creative & Administrative ConsultantKirk is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with a Supervisory Endorsement who serves Kintsukuroi in a creative and administrative consulting capacity — managing the practice’s rental spaces, producing the Repairing the Shattered podcast, and supporting the team’s operations and communications.
As a counselor himself, Kirk understands what it takes to show up fully for clients — and brings that same care to the work of keeping the practice running well behind the scenes.
